So, earlier this summer, when we were still up in the air on what we were going to do about the kid’s school, we decided that we’d treat her to a little end of the summer art/dance/theatre camp for two weeks. It started on Monday, and while she was a little nervous on the way there, she was pretty pumped once we entered the building. This is the kid who stands shyly by our sides most places we go…but on Monday she took her spot on the circle rug and turned and gave a pretty brave little smile to the kid on her right. I think I reminded her about three times where I had left her backpack and maybe asked for a goodbye hug one too many times. I know my eyes were a bit full as I walked down the hall and I was glad to get outside in the sunshine where I could put my sunglasses on right away. Good grief. How am I ever going to handle the first day of kindergarten?

So, more on kindergarten later – I’ll follow up with a long detailed post on the angst, trepidation, heartache and final success of figuring out how to educate our child in this city. But first, I have to recover from sending her off to morning camp…
