Our plan for this weekend was outdoor maintenance, something that usually appears fairly low down on our list because it involves a lot of sweating, a lot of bug spray, a lot of good hard work. And maintenance seems to be the theme of our mid summer so far – it’s not nearly as glamorous as getting something new done. And sometimes it’s a bit frustrating knowing we’ve hit the cycle of maintenance on the first portions of the renovation before we’ve even finished the last portion. But even as we take the time to maintain what we’ve got we try to do it as well or better as we did the first time. And as things take shape and wrap up we are getting somewhere. And at least one third of our team got to take some time to relax her aching muscles in the hot tub, equipped with a nice refreshing stream of constant bubbles.
Our front porch had a few rusty areas and needed a bit of attention after seven years. So there was a lot of grinding, then some priming, and finally some spraying and rolling. This project should be wrapped up tonight or tomorrow, and the porch looks brand new.
And E’s bath has a fully functioning door so that now the user can have privacy and not have to vacate the entire third floor to do so. And the door has completed trim around it for the first time on both sides – it’s now primed and ready for finish coats. Maybe another project that might be completed tonight. Or maybe we’ll just sit on the couch for awhile for a change…
