sixteenth week: it’s an avocado!

Posted on January 23, 2009 by thirdstoryies

I have a sum total of zero photographs of myself when I was pregnant with E. I think a few photographs from a baby shower or two exist in other peoples stacks of photos, but we were not very good at documenting my growth at all. I think we were way too busy working on, and photographing the projects on the house to bother with this project. And we more than made up for it with photos of her every move since she born. But I thought I’d do better this time and have some weekly photos to look back on and say “Oh my, I really did have a waist at one point.”

E took this photo tonight. I added the approximate size of kiddo2 which our journal says should be about 4.5 inches from head to bottom and roughly the size of a nice avocado. Guacamole anyone?

It might not look like much, but I’m impressed for two reasons. A) I still weigh less than I did before I started this journey (where’s the weight missing from – who knows? maybe my toenails…) and B) I’m standing and not clutching my side or leaning over a commode. Progress, my friends, real progress.

Well…C’s 4 months tomorrow. That is about 16 weeks, and it is working backwards in my case. I am 16 weeks out, and I still have an avocado. Ha! Glad you are feeling well.

Too funny! Ya know, I’ve been having killer guac cravings lately…everyone keeps telling me I’m pregnant (which I am so definitely not). Now I can tell them it’s not me, it’s my good buddy Kristen! 🙂
