Or I should say, what he did this weekend. After the floor patching was complete, the sanding started. E and I just stayed out of the way. (This area was the portion of floor under the old attic stair that we removed a few years back.)
Sanding sealer went down, and we hopped off the end of the stairs to stay out of it.
With a very powerful fan pulling air out of strategically opened windows the house has had no dust or fumes inside it. But with an unusually cool May weekend, we’ve been a bit chilly. This project should wrap up in a few evenings, and we picked up the trim from the mill down the street and we can start installing that. No more holes in the floor – that’s a pretty awesome thing.
Looks awesome!
Very very nice. There’s just something about wood floors that warms my heart! 🙂
So, refresh my memory, in which rooms/floors were you able to salvage the existing floor boards? I vaguely remember seeing new floorboards being put in somewhere? Also, where new meets old (if there are spots where that exists) how are you handling the transition? I only ask because we are thinking about extending our wood floors into the kitchen (yucky vinyl right now) instead of installing cold hard tile. I’m not sure if we’d be able to match it well enough to make it look nice and natural. Would love to see what you’ve done! 🙂
