Last Wednesday was E’s final string performance of the year, and it was held at Mad Art Gallery, near her school. The work that the students had done throughout the year in their studio classes were on display, and it was a really nice evening for the arts. She was particularly proud of the printmaking projects they had done – hers was titled “City” and was inspired by her dad and his office in the tallest building downtown. Another piece of hers was titled “Storm” and was a series of shapes representing roofs flying around in the wind. The violin pieces were great – it’s really amazing what they’ve accomplished this year. Can’t wait til next year to see what these kids do. Another reason to love a school that emphasizes the arts – from the performing to the visual to the language to the culinary. You’ve got to love a school with a day that includes at least three subjects that end in the word “arts”.
