We spent the better part of the summer sorting through our art supplies (mine and E’s) and collecting things for her birthday party. The theme started as an art party, then incorporated monsters, of all things, when we found some cool plates on the clearance rack at the bookstore, and recycling was the underlying theme since every piece of art that is generated at our house starts from the stash of things we have in bins and crates around the place. My goal was to get rid of some of the excess, but even with all the glitter and buttons and pipe cleaners and tissue paper assembly going on under this pavilion yesterday, we still have a ton of the stuff left. Looks like her first grade art center is going to get the surplus this week!
The kids were great and very creative. The weather was smashing, with just enough of a breeze to insure that everyone went home with a bit of glitter on their skin (and icing on their mouths.) There are lots of photos to follow (all taken by M, as I negotiated through the paste and the scissors) and I love the way they turned out. What a creative bunch of friends E has to celebrate with.
