This looks like the face of a shell-shocked kid, but when I got home after work she was laughing and smiling and chatting up a storm with her dad and big sister. I never even thought of snapping a photo of her on her big day, her first day of school, until she was pajama-ed up for the night and almost too tired to hold her head up. I was too busy kissing those cheeks in the morning a thousand times before I left her, and then too busy…well, kissing those cheeks again when I returned home in the afternoon. It was hard, but she charmed them, and will continue to I’m sure, and I know she’ll have fun times with her dad in the afternoons. But I still missed her terribly, terribly.
