I’m sure you’ve guessed it by now, but we were in Chicago.
Skydeck Ledge – not for the faint of heart. It’s hard to get used to calling it the Willis Tower, so I didn’t. I’ve just known it as Sears for too long. We walked over from the Museum Campus to the Sears Tower late Saturday afternoon. It was a bit of a hike, but the weather was so nice it was really pleasant. When we got there and heard that the lines in the basement were over ninety minutes long we almost turned around and hailed a cab to dinner. Then we realized that the best purchase of our weekend – the City Pass that gets you into a handful of places, also grants you a fast past to the Skydeck. We walked past room after room of lined up people and hopped on an elevator where we were shoved in like cattle. The photo above shows F holding onto the side of the elevator as we ascended the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere in seconds. Once there we took in all four sides (In order from the top: south, east (that’s Lollapalooza going on in Grant Park), downtown, north) and then braved the two inches of glass to get a nice view from a dizzying height. Later, as I stood in line for the elevators down, M jumped in one box to catch the photo of E in one on the other end – see photo A in the last post. Definite highlight from the trip – make sure you’ve got the fast pass!
