This Saturday morning found E with three different activities on the agenda – a final dress rehearsal for the church musical, her first co-ed indoor soccer game, and a Girl Scout event at a local nursery where they were going to make Christmas wreaths and have donuts. We had to choose one – and the musical was the first on the schedule – but it was one of those mornings where we wished we could be in multiple places at the same time. Plus, her cousin was celebrating her fifth birthday three states away – and while we wanted so badly to be there, after last weekend’s marathon travel we just couldn’t do it again (unless we wanted a complete mutiny by the baby). Thursday night E told us her plan for Saturday – just how she was going to split herself into parts and make it to everything.
“I’ll chop my feet off and send them to the soccer game, since I can’t use my hands anyway. I’ll send my head and throat to church where I can sing. My hands can go out and eat donuts and make a beautiful wreath… but it’s my heart that I’ll send to Kentucky to be with my cousin that I love on her birthday.”
We’re sorry we missed it kiddo – but glad you had a great time! Happy party day, and “real” birthday on Tuesday. We love you.
