Every year our office does a gift for clients that we hand deliver (usually homemade), and a service project in the community related to the holidays. This year one of our clients happens to be the church that we are actively involved in – a church that is more than actively involved in serving the community around it. We baked two hundred lemon pound cakes – one hundred to distribute to clients, and a matching one hundred to distribute to each family that is served weekly by this extraordinary mission, and a few extras for the tireless volunteers who make it work each Tuesday morning.
If you like numbers, that’s 360 lemons (zested and juiced), 720 eggs, 110 pounds of sugar, 70 pounds of cake flour, 240 sticks of butter, several gallons of milk and a big ol’ jar of vanilla. If you like cake, then stop by today while we wrap this thing up!
(Most of these gorgeous photos were by E in my office – thanks!)
I love the numbers! And how many scraped knuckles from all that zesting?! 🙂
Quite a few war wounds -scrapes and burns. And sore muscles – those 50 pound batters are brutal!
Been wishing I had thought to have you send me some pumpkin puree as I’ve been making pumpkin ice cream with (whisper) cans…
oh the shame! the SHAME!!! 🙂 Still have some pumpkin puree in our deep freeze. Maybe Santa can figure out how to send some your way!
