I’m working on a few changes on the blog here, so you might notice a couple of kinks now and then. With over 1200 posts even I’m having trouble finding some things that I want to go back and reference – even with the labels and the search tools. And since I primarily use this as an online journal / reference for me and for my family, then I think it will be nice to have it a bit more organized.
Call it my back-to-school organization mode – the mode required by all parents at this time of the year in order to get through the day. Hyper-organization (backpack-packing, snack readying, note reading-signing-returning, homework, violin, aerial arts, soccer practice, lunch-making, epi-pen carrying, appropriate shoe wearing, correct thickness of jacket donning, after-school shuffling, all-encompassing micro-management of an eight-year-old) kind of mode.
Two other things going on right now – some needed contractor jobs on the house, and a bit more tackling of the wishlist this fall – and of course, the onset of the holiday season before we know it. Last year’s season was the most hectic on record, so I’ve made a concerted effort to spread the joy throughout the year, and will continue to take it down a notch. Maybe not take it down so much as finish it earlier.
So as I organize everything else, I’ll be doing the same here. Stay tuned for a new header (although I love this one, it’s certainly springy). More links to interesting things, and hopefully some interesting projects, a few great recipes and the requisite kid photos that keep the grandparents interested.
Thanks for spending a few moments of each day here. I love hearing from you – the comments, and the more personal emails. The best moments happen on the top floor – whether it’s in the house, or just in my own random, wandering mind. And the view’s not too bad either.
“I absolutely love how you approach organization! It’s so relatable, especially for busy parents juggling multiple responsibilities. I can completely understand the back-to-school chaos, from preparing snacks to signing all the necessary forms. It’s great that you’re finding ways to stay on top of things, even with home projects and the upcoming holiday season. Looking forward to seeing the new blog updates, header, and all the exciting content you have planned – especially the recipes!
