I have this strange aversion to holiday lights/trees/music before the month of December. So even those these photos were taken just after Thanksgiving, I’ve been reluctant to start with the reds and greens on the blog. Now that December is here (already!), I suppose it’s that time. These are the family tree ornaments that fill encompass my grandmother’s Christmas tree. Each person has an ornament, and they hang them on the tree on the day after Thanksgiving. This should give you an idea of just how large our Thanksgiving feast is because these are the people that attend. It’s a big family, five children, fifteen grandchildren, and then dozens and dozens of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Toss in the spouses for all of those, and you get the picture. Five generations is something else, and watching the littlest ones find their spot among the older ones is a pretty nice ritual of the holidays – even if it starts before December.
p.s. my Mom did all of those ornaments!
