And I’m really excited about the last thing I purchased reserved for my birthday. I signed up to take a sewing class where I’ll be making these:
The class is taught at Fabric Nosherie, and I’m planning to knock a couple of things off my want-to-do list with this class: try my hand at machine sewing again after about a twenty-seven year hiatus, and make these poufs for F’s third birthday. See if you can follow the winding road of thoughts here: Our plan was to buy her a bean bag chair for her room and reclaim the aqua Eames rocker that formerly resided in our bedroom. The rocker has been fine in her room because we haven’t had room for it in ours since we had to move the desk and the computer out of the former studio / now nursery, once F came along. Once we have the studio / den completed then the desk and the computer can move out of our room, making room for the rocker in F’s room to return to our room and making space for a new reading seat in her room. F loves her older sister’s beanbag, and sits on it to read whenever she can sneak in the room. Plus – once the studio / den is complete that will be our only little room with a TV, so on the occasional family movie nights, the girls can move their beanbags downstairs while the grownups man the big chairs. What a crazy twisted circle of furniture movement. Have I lost you yet?
Of course none of the beanbags similar to the size and style of E’s are available in aqua or gray or gold, so when I saw this class I just thought I’d make these instead in whatever fabric(s) I choose. These two poufs are in the store and F runs to them when we visit and plops down on them in delight. They will be perfect in that room for a reading nest – or fort building – or stair stepping. I’m sure they’ll be put to good use in many capacities.
I thought about these colorful trays for open storage on the shelves in the studio, but held off. The colors are a lot of fun, but I think I’ll keep looking storage options that are a little deeper or stack a little better. Besides, E would snatch these in a second and use them in her room, filled with treasures of some sort. Every horizontal square inch in that room already is.
It’s been a fun birthday so far – and I’m excited about the extra doses of color coming our way because of it.
Love the trays. Where did you find them? I could imagine them in many places in our house or they’d make nice hostess gifts.
One Kings Lane – the sale runs another 2 days, and last time I checked they were still available in 2 sizes.
