The other night I opened the mailbox to find thirteen catalogs inside. Thirteen. And while I might tend to go straight to the recycling bin with a stack that size, there were actually a few that I wanted to look through. One that I really enjoy is Land of Nod – I like the funny writing, and the messy kids rooms full of items offered – and not offered – in their catalog. And I really like their inclusion of lesser known artists, and pieces designed or offered by them. It feels fun to read – more like a jumping off point than an I’d-like-a-butterfly-bedroom point. The over the top theme-yness of other kid stores really bothers me.
I was flipping through the pages and saw this room and my first thought was “what a great idea!” If you’ve been around the blog for years and years you’ll know that our oldest only played with matchbox cars the first several years of her life. We have buckets of them, and they are pulled out on an almost daily basis still. But I never thought of getting them out of the bucket and onto the wall. My head is spinning right now. We could totally do this – not sure where, but I love the idea.
Love Land of Nod too–and they feature gorgeous and amazing leterpress prints from our very own Firecracker Press!!!
Awesome – I didn’t know that. I really like the rotations of artists’ works in their offerings. They’ve had Famille Summerbelle prints before – I love their work, and ordered a print directly from them, but I like seeing them pop up in their catalog.
OK, love it. My kids are obsessed with matchbox cars, too. This would be a super cool ode to that obsession, for sure.
