admiring

Posted on October 6, 2012 by thirdstoryies
This book is now on my must have list.  And since I’ve got the big book fair coming up in just over a month, I’ll be preordering this one for sure.  It’s 75 mysteries of science illustrated by 75 different artists – including a long list of many of my favorites.  As soon as I saw the “Are Earthquakes Predictable?” page – I had fallen, and hard.  Watch the video.

It’s really interesting because I’ve got something else in my house I’m working on right now that has very similar colors and lines to it like the image above.

As the date gets closer I’ll post more information about the best-bookfair-ever, so get those lists together and hang tight.  Hanging tight is the hard part for me.  I tip into this time period that’s close enough to the fair to mean I should just hold out a bit longer, but still far enough away that I have to exhibit some sort of self control.  Ahhh.

I’m totally intrigued by this book fair! And that book looks gorgeous and fascinating.

I am just poking around your archives tonight and saw this book post. I had no idea this book existed, but it looks great (if its still around I have some gift recipients in mind). Funny thing is that I do have The Who, the What, and the When: 65 artists illustrate the secret history of the world’s greatest sidekicks. And I have it because my brother wrote one of the bios in it!

Ooh, interesting (about your brother). I saw this book rather recently (like in the past six months). I ended up getting it for my dad, but my husband likes it just as much. It’s fascinating.

Also, it’s funny to reread this because I’m again in that two month period before the book fair when I think I should just hold off on purchases until then. But it’s SO HARD.

I was clicking away on the “you may also like” recommended posts, so the algorithm for recommendations must KNOW that the fair is coming.

My brother is Ted Walker. He wrote the Hiroshi Arakawa piece in the book. He is passionate about baseball, to say the least.
