I’ve know about this for a couple of days, but this afternoon the new Land of Nod catalog arrived and I was so excited to see more great things from artists and bloggers that I love. But I was most excited to see Hilary Lang’s creations available now from Land of Nod. I do believe that Hilary Lang’s blog, Wee Wonderfuls, was one of the first – if not the first – blog that I followed regularly. I adore all of her creations, her talent for finding the best vintage toys and books and games at thrift sales, and her holiday decorations – particularly her ornaments. She has two kids just between the ages of my own two kids, and I remember being so excited when her second one was born. It was a strange thing, to not really know someone, but to be excited for them. Blogging was a newer thing then, and Facebook and other social media was just starting to gain in popularity. To find someone of a similar age with an eye towards making beautiful things – it was one of the reasons I was drawn to the world of blogging and online journaling. Hilary’s work – even when she’s frustrated with the process or can’t get the end result that she’s working for – is inspiring. I’ve always loved how she shares the whole process, and I’m thrilled that more people will know her work now. You better believe that little red elephant will be sitting on someone’s mantle post-Christmas this year – and that wee little one below might find her way onto someone’s bed as well.
