overheard

Posted on February 15, 2013 by thirdstoryies
This morning at the kitchen table:

F:  Mom, are “long” and “short” rhyming words?

ME:  No, those are opposites.

F:  Eyes rolling skyward.  Ughhhhh.  Learning.

She’s right – this whole learning thing is just exhausting.

…..

This morning, in the car (E has no school today, so she was in the car as well and working on F’s math skills):

E:  If you had two pretzels and I gave you one more how many would you have?

F:  THREE!

E:  Good job!  Now, if you had three pretzels and I gave you one more how many would you have?

F:  FOUR!

E:  Good job!  Now, if you had four pretzels and I took one away how many would you have?

F:  Thinking for another second or two.  THREE!

E:  Awesome!  Now, if you had two pretzels and I had two pretzels, what would that be?

F:  FAIR!

(We’re all about things being fair and square over here – very important when your big sis is six years your senior.)

Welcome.

This is a blog about an old house with a new life (and all the lives within it). There are plenty of stories to tell.
