There’s something so absolutely gorgeous and simple about this cake that I love. The cake was featured on the always lovely The Cake Blog, but it was referenced again today on Oh Happy Day along with some other fun early spring party ideas.
As I’ve been unpacking things and putting them on the new shelves, I’ve also been culling through those boxes and purging, purging, purging. There’s something about spring that makes me want to do that. It’s also making me want to do the same in our basement. I’d like to get to the point where I’ve gone through everything in the house and decided to either keep it and enjoy it, or send it on to its next life. If I could get to a point where the only things we had in storage were Christmas decorations, camping gear and luggage, I’d be a happy camper.
What ever does this have to do with cake? Well, I think I’d gladly make an exception in the less is more category for cake stands. I’ve been interspersing the ones that I have among the books and I wouldn’t be averse to a few more for the collection. Everything looks beautiful on top of a stand. Especially this cake.
When I saw that cake on Design*Sponge’s pinterest feed I just about died. I’m not even really that into baking and I wanted to MAKE. IT. IMMEDIATELY. Gorgeous. And I’m with you on cake stands. I’m always eyeing them at the antique mall. Enjoy your weekend! Cheers – CT
It is so, so pretty. I saw the most gorgeous cake stand at Anthropologie – marble with a glass dome. It was $130 dollars. Cough. And then I was in R. Ege Antiques and they had vintage ones exactly like them for $250. Funny thing is, I have a very similar thing that belonged to my grandparents – it’s wood and not marble, but it’s still so pretty.
In my kitchen dreams I have a long stretch of marble countertop with a deep ledge in the back lined with vintage cake stands. Just not $250 ones!
