I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and maybe even some extended downtime with family and friends. We went on a six day tour of the southeast, staying in four different hotels, and then Hotel Nana at the end. (Hotel Nana is free, and has complimentary banana bread upon waking.)
The trip was a good one, and we packed a lot into it. We traveled over seventeen hundred miles, and I can feel it tonight. I can also feel the pressure of the season settling in a bit too. I’m fighting that, but I also know that I need to do a little each evening in order to not feel overwhelmed. Balance – and moderation – says the girl that cuts out dozens of intricate holiday cards for weeks on end.
But that’s fun, right? Much more fun than the post-travel laundry pile or the quarter inch of stubborn ice coating my car this morning. Scrape, scrape, scrape. The sound of winter is here, outside my window again. December is here, outside and in. Trying my best to enjoy the countdown without feeling the countdown. Time to turn back the covers and return to my book, enjoying half of my favorite gift I’ve ever given.
I live in Birmingham and haven’t heard of Hotel Nana before. I Googled to see how close it is to me, and all I get is a place in Bangkok. Pretty sure you when you said “southeast” you didn’t mean Southeast ASIA though!
Oh the pain of realizing there’s no way to take down a comment when you’ve said something really stupid and don’t catch it until 2 seconds after you post. Ha!
This totally makes my day! 🙂 I promise I’m laughing with you, not at you.
I tend to forget that I have a couple more readers beyond my mom (Nana) and my sister. My parents have plenty of room, and my mom makes a mean banana bread, so if you need a place to stay in central Kentucky…
Well I’m glad I said it then! And we really have been meaning to make the drive up to Mammoth Cave. Hotel Nana here we come!
