Just a quick review this week in honor of Valentine’s Day on Saturday. I’ve already written about my favorite Valentine’s book, but this one is probably a close second. In The Day It Rained Hearts by Felicia Bond, Cornelia Augusta gets caught up in a bit of a rain storm, except this time the sky is raining hearts. She gathers up a few of them, and sets to work making Valentines for special friends. This book is sweet and simple, and I like that in a book. Each heart is unique, and thus inspires a different approach for each card and its lucky recipient. This is a great book to read right before you get out the paper and scissors and glue to make your own valentines. (Or the flour and butter and sugar, if those are your materials of choice.)
Happy Valentine’s Day!
