I had a lot on my mind this past weekend, and I’m sure my looming birthday might have factored into that just a little. Some of those thoughts are still percolating a bit inside my head, and I really didn’t think I was going to post anything here today. But then I saw this collage my mom put together on Instagram late last night, and it really made me smile so I thought I’d share it with you. It’s a good representation of the seventies, eighties, nineties and just barely into 2000. It’s also a good representation of hair through the decades.
The pictures don’t show the last fifteen years, but I’m telling myself this morning that I’m more the same than different from these past photos. My hair is longer now, and has a lot more silver (that I hide still). It’s just as thick and unruly as it’s always been, but it’s not going anywhere. And I still have those cheeks, of course. They aren’t going anywhere either.
If this is forty, I’ll take it. If this is over the hill, then so be it. Hey – I can sprint to the top of that hill, and I’m still smiling.
Happy birthday! I hope I can still sprint to the top of a hill when I turn 40 next year.

Happy, happy birthday, Kristin! What a beautiful, wonderful milestone! I love the collage, too (ha, ha! Hair throughout time!). Hoping you have a really great day.

Happy Birthday! My turn comes in August. As much as I would love to be above it all, the life analysis stuff is starting to kick in full force. Blergh 😉
Oh, and I’m in trouble if my mom decides to go photo digging. Texas hair in the 90s…
To forty more!
