The girls are back home again after spending a week at their grandparents’ house. We met up with them between our houses yesterday, and then they promptly fell asleep for the remainder of the journey home. They had a great time, and so did we. We tried a few different restaurants, caught a movie, worked on some house projects, slept in (well, at least one day!), worked a lot, exercised a lot, ate pizza in front of the final Mad Men episodes we had recorded earlier.
Now they are home, and we’ll settle into a new summer routine. Just like I predicted, the house is already messier and noisier. But it’s quiet too, just a different kind of quiet. Quiet in a sleepy car, quiet snuggled next to me for The Velveteen Rabbit, quiet this morning before I go to wake them up with a smile. The best kinds of quiet.
