I’m dreadfully behind on photo sorting and posting – the number of photos I took in NYC is a bit overwhelming. I’m trying to break it into smaller pieces in the bits of time I can occasionally find these days. In the meantime, here are some photos of a rainy Wednesday morning visit before school and work, and then a sunny Saturday afternoon visit with my parents. I should be used to this by now, but I’m continually amazed at the changes we observe in the garden every few days, particularly at this time of the year. I might be slightly biased, but I think my birthday week is one of the prettiest weeks of the year here – no matter the weather. Everything is so green and colorful and alive. I love it.

It was nice to have the warm sun on Saturday, but it also reminded me just how nice the light is in the early morning. My parents took lots of pictures on their phones, but it’s hard to get photos of people when the sun is blazing – in some of them we looked like ninjas, we were so cloaked in shadows!
The crowds were manageable on Saturday – I think the cooler temps and winds kept many people away. But I still love the garden most in those early, early morning walking hours, when the gardeners are working and the sidewalks are mostly empty, and the day is just beginning.
Happy Belated Birthday!!
these are so lovely (the yellow umbrella shot is a favorite).
