We’re in the middle of reading Half Magic by Edward Eager to the little one. We are at the point in the story where the children have figured out that magic is indeed happening, but something appears to be slightly off. Wishes are being granted, but only by half. So now they are tasked with making wishes that are twice as much as what they want, so that half the magic will really do the trick.
M was reading the pages during this revelation, struggling to stay awake, and getting poked in the shoulder whenever his voice trailed off. I was sitting at the end of the bed with paper and scissors in hand, because this is the week of multi-tasking. I’m doing twice as much as usual to get through what I want to. I started to wonder just what I might wish for – what I’d double in order to get half. One extra day? One more week? Another Sunday? All seem like good ideas.
But magic, and wishing, make me a little nervous. Best to take what I’ve got and run with it, and then let the rest of it go if need be. We’re up to our ears in projects around here, but merry are the makers. Even the tired ones.
…..
That’s E’s skeleton project. She was supposed to cut out bones and assemble them doing some sort of “action”. Instead she drew the whole thing out, and her skeleton is decking the halls. Merry X(ray)-mas Everyone!
Pretty awesome, Ella!
