ready to make a wish
Last month we celebrated E’s fourth birthday in a big way. After some fun pre-birthday activities with cousins in and around town, we got ready for the big bash Saturday morning. On arguably one of the hottest days of the year, all her friends gathered with her at our favorite neighborhood wading pool to help her celebrate her birthday in style. And although it was hot, the water was nice, there was a band playing by the neighboring farmers’ market, and if you stood in the shade with a glass of water or a cup of coffee, you might have thought it quite pleasant. The kids swam and tossed beach balls around, then gathered on towels for a picnic and cookies with ice cream. It was all a lot of fun, hanging out with her great friends and their parents, and we realized she’s quite the lucky little girl.
Later that day we had eighteen over for birthday dinner, and then she finally got to open some presents! She really got some amazing presents, and then there was plenty of cake and ice cream to go around. The next morning, on her actual birthday, the whole family went to brunch before heading off in their different directions. We asked E later what her favorite part of the whole birthday weekend was, and she said “laughing with my cousins and friends”.
Over her on the blogging front we are trying out some new software, Picasa, which will hopefully aid in the process of sorting and posting photos and slide shows. I’ve tried it on the birthday photos…just click on the “Fourth Birthday” photo link above, hit the slide show button and enjoy! Editor’s note (18 Sept 2007): I changed the slide show from a link to an embedded slide show, so just enjoy the photos below. Run your mouse over the image to show the options available, click on the cartoon person on the lower left to show the captions.

A good portion of the above photos were taken by E’s good buddy, who is just 7-1/2. He did an amazing job.
Great photos…perfect way to brighten up a dreary DC Tuesday.
The Cafe Madeleine looks like where my friend Danielle (who lives in University City) got married. Corinne will be getting that same double stroller, sans babies, for Christmas. How fun!
I think you’re right – the Piper Palm House. I had forgotten about that visit.
The twins came about from a specific request for a boy “kid” doll – not a baby. She loves them.
Yes, the Piper Palm House! Couldn’t remember the name.
I see…a boy “kid” doll…we have a boy baby doll. Corinne still likes her babies, so we are safe for now. I think, eventually, we’ll be getting kid dolls.
How is the quality of the American Girl double stroller? We have the PBK’s Zooper doll stroller and we are spoiled with it’s good quality. Corinne has a specific request (for Christmas already) for a double stroller and other things starting with Princess (princess camera (?), princess car (?), princess telephone (?)). Not Disney Princesses, per se…just princess. She thinks she’s a princess ballerina and we haven’t told her otherwise! 🙂
