Ever since she checked out a book from a science series at the library she’s been captivated with shadows. In this book, all manner of hijinks occur as the protagonist and his jaunty sidekick set out to determine how their older siblings pulled one over on them by exploring the scientific explanation behind the prank, and how, once this principle was instilled via numerous small bubble diagrams at the bottom of each page, they managed to return the favor using the exact same principle! Oh, how they all chuckle at the tomfoolery. In these explanations there are lots of examples of how shadows change depending upon the position of the sun. Perhaps it was our recent walks with shadows, or our brilliant weekend spent with the sun (which has hidden itself again behind rain clouds all week), but she’s got shadows on the brain. I loved this drawing in her school bag Monday. A flower and its shadow. The one-third scale just kills me.
And as much as I’ve enjoyed looking back at the sunny photos from this weekend, that’s not the reason that I’ve not posted the rest of this week. The truth is I left my camera in the truck of a client and I hope to rescue it tomorrow. I’ve missed it, and I certainly can’t go the weekend without it. And there are birthday treasures to photograph, some lingering, but some devoured that same day. Thank you, thank you all for the sweet treats. Happy Friday!
