E’s Brownie Troop has been studying neighborhoods, and a few weeks back we hosted a meeting focusing on just that. The girls talked about what makes up a neighborhood, the different types of zoning in each neighborhood, and a little about what makes their own particular neighborhood special. Yesterday they spent some time in a local neighborhood with a bit of a comeback kid story, visiting the community garden (complete with chickens) and the first coffee shop / neighborhood gathering spot. The girls’ artwork about their own neighborhoods are currently on display there – E’s version of her favorite corner, the Blues City Deli corner – and even a not-so-local neighborhood in there by a visiting cousin. If you’re in the neighborhood, check it out – they will be up for another two weeks. The coffee’s not bad either!
