Now that the final gift has been unwrapped, I can finally go through these photos and share a few. And while I’m rather new to this community, and am nowhere near the likes of this, or this or especially this…I do love to cut me some paper. I think I got the quilter bee gene passed down to me – only I’m too scared yet of the fabric in anything more than small doses. Give me a stack of paper and an x-acto blade though, and I’ll cut until the callouses cry uncle.
So, project number one this season was something to brighten up the walls of my sister’s new activity room…so out came the color scraps on the floor.
First the piles of colors, which lent themselves to a sort of seasonal theme…
Then came the pattern, which I based on a shape of a wallhanging I did several years ago and really liked.
Then the backgrounds were painted on canvas.
The paper layers were transferred over to the canvas, and then moved around until they were happy and settled.
Gluing began.
Nearly done now, with just a few circles to go…
And then completed and ready for giving…a year’s worth of sunny flowers to brighten the walls.
I’m thinking of doing something in this same vein for the kiddo’s room – maybe generated from a pattern she comes up with. Now that I’ve got the new fancy-schmancy scanner / printer (Christmas came early and often around here!), I think we can get crafty with it. I’ll keep you posted.
