I already feel like I’ve been neglecting you, dear blog, because I haven’t posted anything at all since Monday, or anything of substance since Saturday (but those garden photos should have bought me a free pass or two). But then I get on you once again on Wednesday and Monday’s post is nowhere to be found. Where’d it go? The draft was there. Perhaps I never even published it. Who knows. That’s just kind of how this week has been. So forgive me, my faithful, patient friend. I’ll return soon, I promise.
I wish I could say I took the time off for some really fantastic reason – and there were moments of fantastic in there, a great night out on Saturday, a birthday, the start of t-ball season. But the reality is it has more to do with tax time, and exam study time, and third trimester exhaustion time, than cake with candles or five dollar movie popcorn time. (And when I say five dollar movie popcorn, I mean the SMALLEST bag of popcorn you’ve ever seen.) And the week still has a seemingly endless to-do list, and none of it seems really worthy of photographs. I’m hoping next week brings a bit more on the inspiration side and a little less of the mundane. There is always some beauty in the mundane, but rarely does that beauty extend to taxes.
There are good smells lingering in my kitchen from a fun afternoon with E. Perhaps I’ll take a few shots of those and post them tomorrow. Because tonight I have a date with a sidewalk and the re-emergence of spring outside my door.
