This is take two on the belly photos for today. The ones E took this morning were rushed and blurry and we just didn’t have the time to get them right, so I asked her to retake them after school. Now we’re rushed to get back out of the house and into this absolutely amazing weather.
So what’s new on the baby front? Well, after a few weeks of steady growth, I’d say this past week was a whole lot of staying the same. I think the baby seems a bit lower than it did the last few weeks – more like the way E felt, but way, WAY more active. The front flips are killer – especially when a stray limb connects with the lower part of my rib cage. Various parts of the kid poke out at random – we’re getting close to being able to identify the difference between a hand and a foot from the outside and it feels like there is just a very thin layer of skin between us and baby. There are very distinct periods of wake and sleep, and sudden loud sounds can definitely wake this child. I already catch myself saying “Shhh – don’t wake the baby!”
Next week we have a few milestone tests like the glucose test – and it marks the beginning of every other week visits. The time is speeding by pretty quickly. Even quicker when you take a moment to count the baby-free weekends you have left. I never should have done that…
