Yes, that’s right. I was here on Friday afternoon. Not Saturday morning when residents can get in free, not even the early Wednesday walking hours that E and I used to hit when she was in preschool across the street. But general admission Friday… and it was fantastic. That’s because my in-laws gave me a membership to my favorite haunt for my birthday. So I can go anytime I please, even for half an hour on my way to pick up the kid at school. Not a bad way to stretch the legs and take in the tulips during my commute. The spring bulbs are certainly in their glory, and I threw in a (slightly out of focus) iris to give you a taste of the show that’s about to come in another week or so. They are popping out all over the place, waiting in line for their spot behind the tulips and the hyacinths and the long-lasting daffodils. The colors almost hurt, they are so vivid and so intense. The hyacinth smell is intoxicating, and the blankets of lavender ground cover are a sight to see. Some might find this kind of place a point of inspiration for their own yard – I find it an escape from mine – who wants to work in the yard when you can just wander around this place for a few hours a week? And now I can do just that. Any time I want.
Thanks guys.
Beautiful pictures!! Don’t they just make you suck in your breath! How delightful…
I thought of you the other day… I made a dessert on Easter Sunday that reminded me of you for some reason. The whole time I preped it, I thought of you and your family. I’ve put the recipe up on my blog, if you wanted to take a look! Maybe it’s something you’d like to try… or maybe I just needed to send good and peacful thoughts in your direction… either way, blessings!!!
