Last week E drew a picture of how she thought her little sister might react to the whole baptism thing. She drew her being held over the shell shaped baptismal font, water pitcher nearby, and an expression of concern and confusion on her little face. I particularly like the fact that she’s wearing pj’s that say “I am a sweet pea”. Since her aim was to show a sense of apprehension, I think I’d consider the piece a success.
In reality, this little one smiled through the whole service, and if she had a moment of apprehension during the whole thing she masked it well from the crowd. She was baptised by our minister this past Sunday, surrounded by family from all over and a church family from nearby. Her big sister poured the water into that shell shaped font and didn’t spill a drop.
I was photographing these flowers a few days after the service and realized just how much I’m looking forward to spring and walks in the garden again with my camera.
After the service we all ate together, and F opened some gifts from her family and friends. One friend, our godson S, was born ten years ago on that same day. She always has a special smile for him, and we were so glad that they got to celebrate the day together.
