If I married again… to the same man, of course… this is what my invitations would be like. For me, a wedding is a moment in time, and ours was very much a reflection of that moment in our lives. But even more than a decade later, I’m still inspired by the resurgence of individual touches and unique twists to what seemed to be a fairly formulaic ritual for many years. Martha started it, and everyone ran with it.
So naturally, when I saw this invitation on Design*Sponge today, I loved it. Perhaps for two reasons. One, because the color is the same as my Christmas card (prototype, at least) this year, and two, because I’m employing the same paper cut message idea into my cards. These certainly recall what I love most about Famille Summerbelle’s pieces – the combination of words and images cut from a single sheet of paper. I love how fragile and sturdy they are at the same time. I love the handmade aspect to them, even those these are eventually laser cut. They are lovely.
Take a moment to check out Avie Designs – they have some lovely holiday card designs as well, and I know some of you are working on that right now. As I should be. Yikes.
