Another thing I’ve been really wanting to tackle but always seem to push under the rug is to take a sewing class. I talk about it, but somehow never seem to pull the trigger. This seemed like a good thing to take off that perpetual to-do list in my head, and I signed up. (And I signed up E for another class too.)
I’m making a large pouf for F for her third birthday, and I went to the fabric store last weekend to pick up the supplies. Because her curtains are a fairly bold pattern I wanted to stick with something a little more neutral for the seat. I found two beautiful fabrics in the greys and aquas, and I picked up a small remnant with gold for the button on the top and bottom – and that’s an easy fix to change out if I ever want to bring in a different accent color.
E is making a pair of shorts and a white t-shirt with a coordinating applique – she chose the aqua material with little turtles and snails, and then a coordinating remnant to make a lower case “e” on her shirt. She’s pretty excited about this class – making a final choice on fabrics was the tough part.
So here’s another thing I’ve tried to get off that floating list in the back of my mind and into the real world. If I get really into it I might just tackle those curtains on my own!
