We had big plans last Friday night to watch the bike race near our house. It’s a pretty thrilling one to watch – cyclists flying by at ridiculous speeds on a track that is one mile long and has FOUR ninety degree turns in it. (Formerly hurricane) Isaac had different plans. We had a major dumping of water on Friday, and so we bypassed the park by a few blocks and tried out yet another pizza place – PW Pizza. We managed to get there before it was too packed and only waited about twenty minutes for a seat. By the time we were finished the lobby area was bustling. Rainy day + Friday = good pizza night in my book.
The pizzas are cooked in conventional ovens – not wood fired – and there are three choices for crusts, original, honey wheat and gluten free. We took the recommendation of our waiter and went for the honey wheat – even with the margherita – and we weren’t disappointed. M and I polished that baby off. It was really, really good. If you like cheese and meat – this might be the place for you. Ingredients are locally sourced and house made and that mozzarella was truly delish.
I pass this place on my way home each day, and you better believe there might be call-ahead-and-then-pick-up’s in my future. I generally like my pizza right out of the oven and onto the table – in this case I think I might be able to wait a few blocks.

We also made it back up the hill to catch a few laps of the pro race – we stood under a tree and under umbrellas and were still thoroughly soaked. Crazy bikers…
We ate at PW back in early June and were impressed. Pretty tasty pizzas, even with the regular crust!
