F asked for a “Farmers Market Party” this year – which means she wants to meet up with friends on a Saturday morning at the farmers market, eat her weight in fresh fruit and baked goods, and then splash around in the wading pool and fountains. For those of you that know us well, that’s really no different than any other Saturday morning in the summer. Still, it’s perfect – and we can make a celebration out of it for sure. Coincidentally, E had a similar type party (more of a pool party, but at the same location) at age four – and it’s always been one of my favorites.
I’m working up some invitation ideas in my head that involve those green berry baskets full of produce and black chalkboards with white writing on them. I picked up some materials to get the juices flowing this morning – including some great textured minty-green paper for the berry baskets. The girls and I also found some cute miniature woven market bags with drawstrings that we plan to fill with fruit and vegetable cookies. We might do the mason jar sippy cups agains – one of my favorite ways to do party drinks.
And I had some free time on my hands this afternoon while E was at a birthday party, so I stopped in a local vintage shop (more on another find there later – stay tuned if you are in the market for furniture) where I picked up a couple of vintage tablecloths for the party. I love the colors and have some other ideas for these as well – but they will be great for the summer parties – spreading them out on the grass and eating our weight in birthday goodies.
