Here’s a little update to my last wistful post. This is one of my favorite photographs from my favorite (US) beach. This was taken from the car on the way up the causeway to Sanibel Island. It’s the only way on and off the island by car. It was 2008, just after this causeway was completed. The view on the way down, with the island in sight, is even prettier – but this one just speaks to the anticipation of arrival. It might be that anticipation I’m missing, just as much as the actual beach.
I’d love to hear your favorite beach place, and look them up myself to learn a little more about the place – it can be from anywhere in the world. I wrote about my favorite here, if you are looking for a virtual beach escape. And now that we’ve unpacked all our old photo albums, I’m determined to scan some images from my time spent on another beach – the Italian Riviera. If I had a nickel for every time I said “Pinch Me” while living there… well, I’d buy a place like this and invite you all over to enjoy it with me.
Have a lovely weekend – beachside or landlocked.
The best beach we’ve been too is Lanikai Beach on Oahu. We visited David’s aunt and uncle when they lived in Honolulu and they took us there a few times. So beautiful. They even used Lanikai as their daughter’s middle name when she was born (in Oregon) several years later.
Siesta Key!!!
