(six) January 2011. This wall is always changing. The girls write poetry here, they draw elaborate floor plans and populate the rooms with magnetic people. They make welcome signs for visiting grandparents or playdates, and mark the countdown to vacations and holidays with chalk strokes. It spans the distance between both of their rooms, and the hardwood floors always have a chalk dust cast to them. I wish I knew what the girls were discussing here – F is standing so still and paying close attention to her older sister. When I first walked into this house, I could picture this third story. It’s exactly how I pictured it, and a million times better.
